Create your messaging pillars, elevator pitch, biography, short and long artist descriptions, voice, tone, and approved language so your identity sounds consistent wherever people encounter you.
Outcome. Write the full set of descriptions of yourself, in one voice, ready to hand to anyone who asks.
Every artist is asked to describe themselves constantly, by a form, a journalist, a playlist pitch, a venue, a brand. Most improvise each time, and the results do not match. Writing them once, in advance, is what makes a career sound settled.
Start with three or four messaging pillars, the things you always want said about you. Everything else is built from them: the one line pitch, the fifty word description, the two hundred word biography, the long form biography.
Then fix the voice. Voice is who you are and does not change. Tone flexes by situation. Keep a short list of words you use and words you never use, because approved language is the difference between a team that sounds like you and a team that sounds like a press release.
What you will produce
A messaging kit: your pillars, elevator pitch, short and long artist descriptions, full biography, and a voice and tone guide with approved and avoided language.
