Outcome. Produce a complete plan showing what you own, where it is registered, who collects it, and what is still missing.

Almost every dollar an independent songwriter never receives is lost the same way: the work was created, and then it was not registered somewhere it needed to be. The plan you build here is a list of those somewheres with your name against each one.

Work song by song. For each: the two copyrights and who owns each share, the copyright registration, the society registration on both the writer and publisher side, the mechanical registration, the recording side registration, the identifiers, and the signed split sheet. Mark every gap.

Then set a rhythm. New work gets registered on a schedule, not when you remember. Statements get read when they arrive, not at tax time. A catalog is an asset only if somebody is maintaining it.
