Examine international licensing strategies, foreign partners, subpublishing, royalty collection, licensing agreements, and opportunities for monetizing music worldwide.
Outcome. Put the arrangements in place that let a foreign placement actually pay you.
A sub publishing agreement puts a local publisher in a foreign territory to license and collect there, doing the work a publisher does at home: registration, licensing, collection and distribution, for a share.
The alternative is an administrator with global reach, or self administration territory by territory. Each is a trade between the share you give up and the money you would otherwise never see, and the right answer depends on how much foreign income you actually have.
Choosing a market follows the data rather than the ambition. The territory where your listeners already are is the one where a local partner has something to work with.
Withholding tax applies to licensing income in many countries and is deducted before you are paid. Whether you can reclaim it depends on the treaty between the territories, and knowing the rate before you agree a fee is the difference between a profitable deal and a break even one. This is guidance rather than tax advice, and anything binding needs advice in the territory.
