Learn the fundamentals of tour routing, advancing, logistics, transportation, accommodations, and booking performances in domestic and international markets.
Outcome. Route a run that pays for itself and advance every show so nothing is decided on the day.
Routing is geography and money at once. A run that zigzags burns fuel, hours and voices, and that cost never appears on the deal sheet. Distances go in the plan as real numbers, because knowing a leg is 420 miles rather than guessing changes the departure time and whether you can sing that night.
The itinerary is written per day: travel, load in, soundcheck, meal, show, where you sleep. A rest day placed deliberately in the middle, used for an in store performance and content, is often worth more than one more show.
Advancing means confirming load in time, soundcheck time, set length, curfew, parking, guest list, merchandise arrangements and who settles with you at the end of the night. Merchandise terms in particular, including whether the venue takes a percentage and on what, should never be discovered at the merch table.
Accommodation and transport are budget lines, not afterthoughts. Decide in advance what you are willing to spend per night and stick to it, because the run is won or lost on the cumulative small decisions rather than on any single fee.
What you will produce
A routed run with distances, a day by day itinerary, an advance checklist you send before every show, and a transport and accommodation budget.
