Lesson 4: Developing Your Social Media Strategy

Identify the right social platforms, establish content goals, and create a consistent strategy that supports the artist’s brand and music.

Outcome. Choose platforms deliberately and give each one a job, instead of posting the same thing everywhere.

Audience research comes before content. The platforms your fans actually use, the formats they actually watch, and the accounts they already follow tell you more than any general best practice.

A strategy names what each platform is for. One is for discovery, one is for depth, one is for the people already in. Posting identical content across all of them is the absence of a strategy, and it is why output rises while results do not.

Content goals are tied to the funnel rather than to vanity. A discovery platform is judged on reach to new people; a depth platform is judged on saves, shares and replies; an owned channel is judged on signups.

Consistency beats volume. A cadence you can hold for a year is worth more than a burst you abandon in six weeks, and the algorithm is less punishing than exhaustion.

What you will produce

A social media strategy naming the role, the format, the cadence and the measure for each platform you keep.
